That dude has no heart! Not only did he betray little Maruch but now he's rubbing his face in it!
—Jake about Ren betraying Marucho, In True Colors

Info Image Gallery Trivia

Jake Vallory (ジェイク・ヴァレリ, Jeiku Bareri?) was a character in Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders. He became a new friend of Dan Kuso when Dan arrived at Bayview. He used Coredem as his Guardian Bakugan and Rock Hammer as his Bakugan Battle Gear, and was a Subterra Brawler. He is voiced by Dan Petronijevic, the same voice actor for Julio Santana, Spectra Phantom, and Marduk. He was also the new Subterra Brawler for the Twelve Orders while brainwashed by Kazarina.

Description[]

Jake is big hearted and very brave, he is sometimes headstrong, often using brawn instead of brain, and sometimes is a little scared when shown the elements of Bakugan. He has a great admiration of Dan to which he gives him the nickname "Dan the Man" ("Aniki" in the Japanese version), occasionally implementing rhymes as well, something that displeases Dan.

He first meets Dan when he moves to Bayview, he goes to Dan's high school, and he plays on the football team.

Story[]

Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders[]

In A New Beginning, Jake goes with Dan to Bakugan Interspace for the first time after talking to Julie Makimoto and having her coffee. Once inside Interspace he meets Marucho Marukura, who offers Jake Haos Aranaut or Subterra Coredem as his first Bakugan. He chooses Coredem, but discovers it is a synthetic Bakugan and cannot talk, much to his disappointment. He stares sadly at Drago, who replies, "Quit staring at me like that. It's creepy." He later meets Ren Krawler who tells him that he knows that Jake is a new brawler and goes to watch Shun's battle against Shuji with the Brawlers. Ren then informs Jake that he's scheduled his battle against Dan, while it turns out the battle was Dan against Ren himself. Jake then watches the rest of the battle with Marucho and Shun. The fight ends up having no outcome due to an explosion causing Dan to see a vision of Bakugan at war. Everyone except Ren was surprised.

In Revelation, it is revealed that Julie is one of the cheerleaders for his American Football team while they play and Dan blanks out due to the vision he had after his battle with Ren. The team all meet up where Ren tells the team that he is a Gundalian from the planet Gundalia who is being attacked by Neathia during the Neathian-Gundalian War. He later watches the battle between Dan and Marucho against Sid Arkale and Lena Isis. Dan wins in the end causing Jake to congratulate his hero.

He, Marucho, and Shun look at the rest of the Gundalian Agents that Ren show them. When Fabia first appears in The Visitor, Jake thinks Dan is talking about a giant. Jake and the others then learn that their Bakugan are really from Neathia while Dan battles Fabia Sheen. After Dan beats her Fabia throws Dan hard and they notice Shun left.

In Brawler To Be, Jake battled Dan for practice and lost. He and the others later saw Mason Brown battle a random Ventus kid and win. Dan then decided to battle him and everyone cheered. But when Jake wanted to battle to show that he is a real Battle Brawler, everyone booed because they wanted Dan to brawl Mason. He was defeated by Mason's Avior. Julie offered to give advice to Jake at the football field. Thanks to Julie, he and Coredem were able to defeat Mason and Avior in a rematch where Jake becomes a full member of the brawlers.

In Confrontation, Marucho tells him and Dan that brawlers have disappeared from Interspace and later tells Dan to let Marucho and Ren handle using the computer. When Sid and Zenet Surrow challenge the Brawlers, Dan and Ren step up to fight with Jake wishing them luck.

In Exposed, He and Dan are wondering why Marucho and Ren keep working with technology with Drago mentioning how they love brawling just as much. Later when Jesse Glenn arrives he gets surprised to find out that Fabia fought him. After Jesse wins, they learn that Ren had something to do with the win, much to Marucho's shock. Jake has a hard time believing it himself.

In True Colours, he finds out from Fabia and Aranaut Ren was lying about the Neathian-Gundalian War the whole time and that Gundalia was the one who invaded. He then watches Marucho battle and beat Ren, with Jake believing Ren was heartless the whole time.

In Hostile Takeover, Jake is finally partnered with the real Subterra Coredem, something that made him very happy due to his long desire to have a talking Bakugan. When Ren and the agents go around kidnaping kids, Jake and the rest of the Brawlers confront him. Marucho and Jake battled Sid and Casey using the real Akwimos and Coredem. In the end, they win, and Marucho captures Casey's Buz Hornix. but they were all tricked and sent out of Bakugan Interspace when Ren hacked into the system and forced the brawlers out, causing Bakugan Interspace to be under Ren's control.

In Twin Attack, He used his strength to prevent kids from being brainwashed by the Gundalians. Jake and Dan volunteered to go into Bakugan Interspace to do inspection on the Gundalians and Dan challenged Ren for a battle but instead, the two went a brawl against two hypnotized twin brothers named Sein Pam and Lewin Pam and took the victory. They then tell the twins that once Interspace is safe they can battle.

In Escape From Darkness, he is shown talking about how to get the security system working again and watches Fabia and Marucho leave to solve the problem.

In The Secret Package, He and Marucho work to get more kids out of Interspace which they succeed in. After Shun and Linus Claude lose to Jesse and Ren they learn that Neo Ziperator lost the element leaving Neathia doomed.

In The Sacred Orb, He went to Neathia and was awarded the position of a Neathian Castle Knight after battling Nurzak and Sabator.

He battled Airzel and Mason with Marucho in Decoy Unit, in order to buy enough time for Dan, Shun and Fabia to bring the Second Shield back online. Later as they were losing they fled the scene after Marucho freezes Avior and Strikeflier, distracting them.

He is seen celebrating after Dan and Shun restarted the second shield in "Battle For the Second Shield"

In Curtain Call, he runs off into the Neathian jungle after getting into an argument with Dan. Soon afterward he is found by Fabia, who convinces him to return to the main town but before they can Jesse and Ren challenge them to battle. After harshly losing to Jesse in the first round he and Fabia end up defeating them in the next two, ensuring their victory and allowing them to head back to the Neathian Capital.

In Partners 'Til the End, he is shown watching Fabia tell Serena about how Nurzak just left the battle when the orb got angry. The Brawlers decide to use the orb to turn the other Twelve Orders against Barodius. Dan decides to use that plan to divide and conquer.

In Mobile Assault, he beats several brainwashed kids with the rest of the Brawlers and Castle Knights

In Colossus Dharak, he helped Marucho fight off the Scaboids and Megarus, but when Gill and Stoica attacked him and Marucho, he ended up fighting Gill instead.

In Dragonoid Colossus, he continues to fight Gill, but loses to him.

In Forgiveness, he watches Ren become a Castle Knight after he lost to Fabia.

In Into the Storm, he tried to find a human boy named Robin, who had supposedly escaped the Gundalians and was looking for his sister. However, Robin was just another child brainwashed by the Gundalians and it was all a trap to capture and brainwash Jake. Kazarina defeated him and took him back to Gundalia with her. Before that, he said that he failed Dan and his friends after he ignores Dan's orders and discussions with him.

Jake, under Kazarina's hypnosis

In Jake Returns, he's taken to Kazarina's lab and is hypnotized by her and sent back to Neathia to plant a virus in the third shield. However, Dan set a trap for him when he realized that Jake was acting suspiciously. He set a secret teleportation pad that sent him into the middle of nowhere and the two battled. Using a powerful Ability Card that doubles Coredem's power level, he nearly beat Dan until Shun stepped in and the two defeated him. However, he was still brainwashed and taken back to Gundalia again. He might have been thought to be the new Subterra brawler for the Twelve Orders. Under the hypnotism, his eyes changed and he also displays a wide, ghoulish grin in most situations.

In True Evolution, he made an appearance in the end being summoned by Emperor Barodius due to Dan asking for Jake. He said that Gundalia is his brand new home.

In Redemption, he tackled Dan and locked him in jail to be hypnotized by Kazarina.

In Jake's Last Stand, he was seen briefing the Gundalian soldiers on how to beat the Brawlers. He later battled Marucho, utilized Rock Hammer and ended the battle with a tie. He disappeared when the foundation of the building started to collapse.

In Final Strike, Kazarina offered Jake to vaporize Dan, but he couldn't bring himself to do it, so Kazarina decided to do it herself.

In Dream Escape, he and Coredem snapped out of Kazarina's hypnosis and rescued Dan and Drago. He, Dan and Fabia then fight Kazarina only to lose to her.

In Gundalian Showdown, he battled Airzel, Gill, Stoica and Kazarina along with Dan, Shun, Marucho, Fabia and Ren. They then returned to Neathia.

In Broken Spell, he battles Lena Isis until Kazarina's death snaps her out of hypnosis. After the minor Twelve Orders join the Castle Knights, they all get ready to brawl Phantom Dharak.

In Code Eve, he fights Airzel and many Gundalian Bakugan, but he and Coredem are brutally defeated by Barodius and Phantom Dharak.

In Destiny Revealed, he is healed by Linehalt's forbidden power and later says goodbye to Coredem, the Neathians and the Gundalians, before Aranaut teleports him, Dan, Shun and Marucho back to Earth. He gets extremely emotional when saying goodbye to Coredem, even crying hysterically. After retuning home they reunite with Julie.

Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge[]

H8oh

After separating from Coredem, Jake is no longer with the Battle Brawlers at the start of Mechtanium Surge and is not mentioned. He makes a single cameo in Back In Sync, in a photo with Fabia and Ren when Marucho was reflecting on the good old days of the Battle Brawlers.

Trivia[]

  • Jake so far is the only male Subterra brawler that was a main character (although Gus Grav was one of the leading Vestal Subterra Brawlers for the second season).
  • Early leaks suggested that Jake's last name would be "Rockwell", a pun on his Subterra attribute.
  • In the Japanese dub, Jake nicknamed Dan "Aniki" which means "Big brother." In Japanese culture, in common yakuza slang, "Aniki" is a term used for a yakuza of older or senior rank within the family, and is said as a title of respect from a lower ranking family member to a higher.
  • Jake is similar to Baron Leltoy in that they both have big hearts, are unusually more muscular for their age, and have little experience in brawling.
  • Jake is similar to the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX character, Tyranno Hassleberry, as both have a similar hairstyle, both are muscular, and both admire the main protagonist.
  • He has battled every member of the Brawlers this season except for Fabia.
  • Ren and Jake are the only Brawlers in Gundalian Invaders to be the Darkus and Subterra for two teams as Jake was the Subterra Battler for the Battle Brawlers this season as well as the Subterra battler for the Twelve Orders after Nurzak left.

Battles[]

Jake was an amateur brawler. He used to only want to battle the way Dan battles which proved to be pointless and a disaster. Thanks to Julie's help, Jake found his own style of battling which works for him. Although not the best, he can still hold his own in battle. Most of his battles have been losses though.
