Dan Kuso, Various episodes

Daniel "Dan" Kuso (Japanese Version: Danma "Dan" Kūsō (空操 弾馬 (ダン), Kūsō Danma (Dan)?)) is the main protagonist of the anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers and its three following seasons: New Vestroia, Gundalian Invaders, and Mechtanium Surge.

He is partnered with a Pyrus Dragonoid named Drago (who eventually evolved into Fusion Dragonoid). After his actions in the first season, he has become a living legend among brawlers from Earth, Vestal, Neathia, and Gundalia.

For the first two seasons, he lived in Wardington with his parents, Miyoko and Shinjiro Kuso, near his friends Runo Misaki, Marucho Marukura and Shun Kazami. He then moved to Bayview in Gundalian Invaders, as did Julie Makimoto, who became his next-door neighbor.

He was the #1 Brawler in Bakugan Interspace until he was disqualified in a brawl against Anubias. He moved to the newly-built Bakugan City in Arc 2 of Mechtanium Surge and now lives in the Battle Brawlers Headquarters.

Appearance

In the first season, he is seen wearing a short red overcoat with black pockets over a bright yellow sleeveless shirt. He has brown hair in which he wears hexagonal-shaped goggles. He wears long red trousers with black stripes just below his knees, the ends of which are neatly tucked into his blue-tongued black sneakers. He keeps his Bakugan Gear on his belt, similar to how Pokémon trainers such as Ash Ketchum keep their Pokeballs. Lastly, he wore blue fingerless gloves. The left glove was longer, and he wore an orange BakuPod on his left wrist.

In New Vestroia, he wears a gold-trimmed long-sleeved overcoat and dark colored 'shoulder pads' on his shoulders. His sleeves go past his wrist, forming a slight upward V-shape, and he wears this over a light blue sleeveless shirt. He wears white pants with grey pinstriped patches on his hips that are outlined in blue. The bottoms of his pants are neatly tucked into his black boots and are supported by a white /blue belt with a square belt buckle, and he wears suspender-like straps on his waist with golden buckles. He wore black fingerless gloves nearly identical to the ones he wore in the first season.

In Gundalian Invaders, he wears a white-collared red jacket with the sleeves rolled slightly up his forearms. His goggles have become elliptical. His gold buckled belt is replaced by a regular buckle (silver or aluminum). He wears dark trousers with side pockets outlined in red and tucked into his blue and black sneakers with gray tongues. When he became a castle knight, he wore a high-collared form-fitting combat suit similar to a stormtrooper's armor. It was trimmed in red and gold and had blue markings down the sides. However, he reverted to his former outfit at the end of the season once Neathia is saved from the Gundalian army.

In the first arc of Mechtanium Surge, he wears his trademark red jacket with a high black collar and black pads on the sides of each of his shoulders over a white and blue T-shirt. He wears regular jeans, which are held by a brown belt. He also wears red-soled black sneakers that have red tongues. In the second arc, he wears a red jacket with white colors on the shoulders, black fingerless gloves, and dark red jeans.

Occasionally, in the few episodes in Arc 2 during his daily morning jogging Dan wears a sporting outfit which mostly consists of black with red-colored trims on the sides from the collar and down to shoes.

Personality

Dan is a boy who really loves playing Bakugan and aspires to be the strongest brawler to ever live, which he achieves in the last episode of the first season. However, he tends to be impulsive and rash, which often leads him to trouble when his overconfidence gets the better of him. He is easily frustrated, which combined with his eagerness to brawl, causes him to complain a lot when he has to wait around in hiding, as shown in the first and second season. By the third season, however, Dan has outgrown that habit, as shown in the episode Curtain Call when he was telling Jake Vallory to help rebuild the second shield generator after they had a successful victory over the Gundalian army.

In the beginning, Dan played using raw power and brute force without any kind of strategy, only caring about victories and not the consequences that would follow. Because of this, he and Drago got into an argument that ended with Dan throwing Drago in the river. After losing a battle to Ryo and reuniting with Drago, Dan learned that there's more to Bakugan than just power. After that experience, Dan started using a little more strategy and tactic in his battles, allowing him to take on world-ranked Bakugan champions such as Chan Lee.

He and Runo Misaki are known to argue and fight a lot, but deep down they care about each other although they hide it at first. By the end of the first season they have become close friends and go on a date. Dan is also known to embarrass himself at times in public like when he yelled that he would fight Masqeruade in front of people at Runo's restaurant. Despite his hate of cruel people, he is shown to forgive them and let them redeem as shown with Masquerade, Masquerade Spies, Spectra Phantom, Gus Grav, Ren Krawler, Gunz Lazar, Team Sellon and Team Anubias. He believes that people deserve a second chance. However he is known for being rather headstrong rushing into situations without thinking of the consequences. He is also not afraid of fighting back when his team tells him to stay back as shown when he arrogantly told Marucho to back off and held him by the shirt. Dan can also act like a hypocrite like when he told Marucho to get over Preyas being sent to the Doom Dimension, even though he got extremely sad after Drago was taken from him by Spectra, when he told off Alice for bringing Lync to them even though he offered told Lync that he can come along with the Bralwers, or when he yelled at his friends for going in the Doom Dimension even though Dan himself foolishly went to be with Drago.

Biography

Bakugan Battle Brawlers

Dan with Ultimate Drago

In BAKUGAN THE BATTLE BEGINS, when Dan first appears, he is seen riding his bike to the park, where he is supposed to battle against his rival Akira. However, his older brother Shuji fought Dan in his place. He managed to defeat him with ease. Later he was challenged to a rematch, which he accepts. Drago tries to make Fear Ripper stop fighting with him. After the vision was over, Drago and Fear Ripper appeared in the field and Drago was able to defeat him, giving Dan the victory. Dan was surprised hearing Drago talking to Fear Ripper and he decides that he was imagining that he was speaking. He then takes Drago back to his house.

In Masquerade Ball, Dan then tried to get Drago to talk but to no avail causing his classmates to get embarrassed. This lands him into trouble with his teacher Ms. Purdy who assings him detention for the rest of the Semester (though Dan is never seen going to detention). After hearing from Runo that there is a mysterious man named Masquerade who was sending people's Bakugan to the Doom Dimension, Dan decides to battle him. When he went to the meeting point, he found Shuji and Akira waiting for him for another rematch. Dan unwillingly accepted and defeated Shuji's Ventus Bakugan with ease. After the battle, he ran into Masquerade and battled him. After losing two of his Bakugan to Reaper, he sends out Drago and he was losing the battle until Dan tried to activate an Ability Card, which Drago was able to exceed and cause the battle to end in a draw. However, as Masquerade left, he revealed that he was holding back, making Dan realize that Masquerade was much more powerful than he had anticipated, and that he could have lost Drago.

In A Feud Between Friends, Dan started training for when he would encounter Masquerade again. Around this time Drago started accepting him as his partner, hoping that with Dan's help he can destroy Naga. However, during the battle against Rikimaru Drago was constantly trying to warn Dan to be careful and to come up with a strategy but Dan did not listen. So he just threw in a random Bakugan until Rikimaru threw in Siege, and using his ability that requires two more Aquos Bakugan was able to send all of Dan's Bakugan, as well as his own, to the Doom Dimension. Although he was able to win in the end by anticipating Rikimaru's moves, he was angry at Dan because of his reckless actions that cause four Bakugan to be sent to the Doom Dimension. Because of this Dan threw Drago into the river, saying they were done.

During Dan and Drago, Dan had a hard time adjusting to life without Drago. The other Bralwers ask why Dan would do such a thing, causing Dan to tell them that Drago was just bossy. He later regrets throwing Drago after losing to Ryo and after getting Drago back he defeats Ryo in a rematch causing the boy to leave Masquerade.

In Runo Rules, His mom told him to buy some meat for dinner for Runo's parents, Dan were off in town when he bumped Runo while turning around the corner. They both are shocked; they meet for the first time in real life, finding out they live in the same town. When they bump into each other, Dan rushes off to the meat sale, while Runo picks up Dan's BakuPod and finds a message from Masquerade on it. As he forgot his BakuPod, then He saw Runo that she is challenging by the boy named Tatsuya sent by Masquerade to battle after the boy was beaten by Masquerade.

During A Combination Battle, he learned that Runo moved in Wardington and was seen hanging with her even doing a tag brawl with her against twins named Kenta and Kenji.

He is later present when Alice, one of the Battle Brawlers visits the team after Runo and Marucho brawl against two twins named Kosuke and Takashi.

During A Perfect Match when Julie Makimoto lost to her childhood friend Billy Gilbert Dan mentions how much that must hurt for her. When Julie tells the group about Cycloid Drago mentions that he knows about him and that he can be a bit of a loudmouth. Dan mentions he would want to battle Billy and Cycloid one day. Dan and Marucho tell Julie that it would be great if she found a talking Bakugan. Julie however doesn't care and says she is happy the way she is before logging out of the chat. He and the other Brawlers are present when Gorem introduces himself as Julie's new talking Bakugan. Dan tells Julie it is great that she found a partner. Gorem introduces himself to the other talking Bakugan only to get Drago's name wrong much to Dan's amusement.

After beating a Ventus brawler at a pear and Marucho saying they need more members. He admitted he didn't want Shun Kazami to join the team because of problems he's been having with him getting mad when he finds out Runo and Marucho saw Shun without him. but after Shun helps Dan beat Masquerade and his Bakugan Hydranoid he welcomes him to the Brawlers. he and the other Brawlers watches Michael's video before he left for Vestroia and then travels with them to Bakugan Valley where he meets Julie for the first time in person causing Runo to feel jealous about their relationship. When Komba O'Charlie are Billy Gilbert ambush the Bralwers Dan offers to fight only for Shun to tell him that he and Julie will take them on.

While traveling in Bakugan Valley, he battles the #3 player Chan Lee. It was a tough fight but he comes out as the victor.

He later tags with Runo to battle Julio Santana after she follows Marucho to get Preyas back. Tentaclear proves to be a tough opponent but Drago and Tigrerra emerge as the winners.

After Julie drops Billy off at Bakugan valley, Dan and Shun have a falling out with the former telling Shun to get lost. Dan at first doesn't care but eventually learns his lesson and finds Shun who just beat Komba O'Charlie. Dan apologies and Shun rejoins the team. Later he battles Klaus von Hertzon, Chan Lee and Julio Santana alongside Runo and Marucho. They work together to bring Preyas back by using Pure light and Drago evolves into Delta Dragonoid after winning. After freeing the three from Masquerade's control, Chan mentioned Joe Brown who was the webmaster of the site. The brawlers think he may be a spy. They visit Joe in the hospital where Dan battles him. After ending the battle they realize that Joe was not a spy after all.

During Lars Lion's test for Runo, a younger, illusionary Dan was used to make Runo realize that she can't be so stubborn and rash. He was the first person that Runo met when she moved into his town. They played baseball, but when Dan left, Runo never caught his name.

During his test with Apollonir, he brawls against a clown on the moon. He wins by using a Fusion Ability Card, D-Strike Extreme. When Drago doesn't evolve like the others, he is told that he needs to defeat all of his friends in order for Drago to evolve. He defeats Julie and Hammer Gorem, although he hesitates because he doesn't want her to fall off Gorem. He then defeats Marucho, Preyas, and Angelo/Diablo Preyas. While he planned on defeating Shun next, Blade Tigrerra requested that she and Runo brawl first, which he accepted and won. Finally, he battled Shun. Drago evolved after Dan emerges victorious.

After Drago finally evolved, Masquerade sent a battle request to Joe Brown for the Infinity Core, only to have Dan come to battle in his place. Alpha Hydranoid and Drago, now an Ultimate Dragonoid, finally brawl. He wins and finds out that Masquerade was actually a secondary personality created within Alice Gehabich by Naga.

When the Brawlers went to Vestroia Dan and the rest met the Aquos and Ventus gatekeepers Tayghen and Hairadee, Drago fights them briefly before Shun uses blow away to allow him, Runo and Julie to escape while Shun and Marucho beat them. Dan caught the eye of the Bakugan hybrids Tricloid and Rabeeder, which started to freak him out. He was given a clay heart by Tricloid, which actually turned out to be a key to allow Dan and Drago access into the world of Pyrus and Darkus. When in the Pyrus-Darkus world, he and Drago fought the Pyrus-Darkus hybrids Druman and Centorrior. They were saved by Nova Lion, an elderly Pyrus Tigrerra. He then decides to take them to the center of the universe. They were stopped by the hybrids again and beat them, however Nova Lion died. Dan then wishes Nova Lion was back during another battle with the hybrids, but somehow, Alice overheard him, but didn't know who he was talking about Alice then decided to become Masquerade one more time to save them, which she does, and thanks to Masquerade's plan, the hybrid Bakugan are defeated. Masquerade takes off his mask, becoming Alice permanently and thus Dan and the rest of the Bralwers welcome her and Hydranoid as the Darkus pair of the Brawlers. They all head of to Vestroia to stop Naga. Dan and the rest of the Bralwers don't find Naga there and wonder where he might be. Joe later contacts them and tells them Naga is in Earth and is after the Infinity Core. With no time to lose Dan and the rest of the Bralwers head back home to foil Naga's plans.

After returning to earth, He faces Druman and Centorrior in a rematch with help from Runo. The two struggle until Marucho, Klaus, Julie, Billy and Komba arrive to help. This causes the hybrids to be killed and Drago to battle Naga. During the battle Drago has to kill Wavern to get the Infinity Core becoming Infinity Dragonoid. Drago and Naga battle but then Hal-G summons the Fifth Paladin to aid his master. Drago gets knocked out but the other brawlers launch their Bakugan to help out. Eventually the Paladins are killed and Drago uses his power to killl Naga for good. After the battle finished, he released Drago and all other of his Bakugan while getting a group photo.

Although constantly arguing with each other, Dan and Runo are in love but don't confess until the end of the season, where they are seen going on a movie date together. Also, during this date, both Dan and Runo seem to have changed clothes. After seeing Drago in a spiritual state telling him to take care of himself, he says: "Everything is perfect" while doing his signature nose flick.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia

645

In Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia, Dan, now 15 years old, is reunited with Drago during a date with Runo, who was separated from the Perfect Core with the help of the Legendary Soldiers of Vestroia to stop a new enemy faction called Vexos. Drago took him and unknown to their knowledge, Marucho, to New Vestroia, where they met Mira Fermin and battled two members of the Vexos, Volt Luster and Lync Volan. The two Vexos members remembered Drago as one of the six fighting Bakugan.

After they won with Dan winning Freezer and Atmos, he and Marucho were taken back to the Resistance's headquarters with Mira telling Dan and Marucho about the history of New Vestroia and how the Vexos took over. Later Dan and Marucho meet Ace Grit and Baron Leltoy (the latter being a big fan of Dan). While Mira and Baron were accepting of him, Ace wanted Dan to prove himself in a fight, which ended in a draw. He agreed to help the Resistance free the Bakugan by destroying all the Dimension Controllers located in Alpha, Beta and Gamma cities that are keeping the Bakugan in their ball forms.

Later he helps Baron get his confidence back by teaching him about Brawling thus causing Baron to beat Shadow Prove and trying to find Marucho when he goes missing. After finding Marucho after his battle with Mylene he learns that Elfin is Marucho's new partner.

In Taste of Defeat, Dan and the rest of the Resistance were relaxing on a beach eating some food. Ace tells Dan that they should be ready in case the Vexos show up. Dan then received a Trap Bakugan, Scorpion, from Mira who explains to Dan that they don't know how the trap Bakugan function yet due to them not knowing how to talk. Dan however is to excited to care and rushes of to to training with Drago and Scorpion. They arrive at the desert where Scorpion alerts him of a hooded stranger walking by. The stranger asks Dan why he battles causing Dan to tell him that Bakugan are his friends. When the stranger asks Dan what he will gain from freeing the Bakugan Dan gets confused. The stranger tells Dan that battling without purpose is meaningless and tells Dan that they should meet again and calls him by his name. Dan gets confused as to how the stranger knows his name. Later he tells the team about the stranger causing Ace to assume he was with the Vexos. A battleship appears and the blue haired stranger appears again asking Dan why he battles. He introduces himself as Gus Grav causing Mira to warn Dan that he is the second strongest Brawlers the Vexos have. Dan tells Gus that he fight to protect his friends causing Gus to mock him and call him naïve. Dan challenges Gus to a Brawl which the later excepts. Gus shows of Premo Vulcan to the Brawlers for the first time and has Dan down for the count when Vulcan's attacks hit Drago hard. Although Dan brings out Scorpion he still wins the first round when Vulcan uses Pyrus durance. Gus tells Dan that he will show him a battle between men. Gus brings out Hexados and uses Vulcan's power to put Dan on the edge. Dan shows off his triple ability causing Gus to wonder if Neo Dragonoid is as strong as Helios. Gus however tells Dan that he battles for power which is why he will win. Vulcan causes damage to Drago earning Gus the win. Gus retreats telling Dan to give up while he can. Dan's teammates try to cheer him up reminding him that Gus was a tough opponent due to being the second best of Vexos. Dan however was ok with the loss saying that they will get him next time and decides to train even harder while Ace laughs over Dan's additude.

In Return of a Friend, Dan is shown having a nightmare following his and Drago's loss to Gus and Vulcan. After he wakes up Marucho and Baron he decides to go out and start traning. He find Dragos and tells him to start traning to become stronger. He then has a battle with Marucho and Baron that ends up having No outcome. The next day the group plans to ambush Alpha City causing Dan to get excited that they will go though Vexos territory. Drago reminds Dan to stay focused causing Mira to ask for a favor. Dan then rushes to use the restroom. After he comes out he sees The Bee projecting a hologram of Gus challenging him to a rematch. Shun then tells the group the story of how he arrived in New Vestroia and began fighting to free the Bakugan. Once Baron reveals that they've reached Alpha City, Shun tells them, that he was heading there to rescue Storm Skyress, thinking she might be there. He becomes an official member of the Resistance. Shun leads the team to Alpha city where they explore the city and find out about Altair during Mira's Brawl with Lync.

While in Alpha City, Dan helped destroy the Dimension Controller by using Drago to hit the controller. Afterwards, the Bakugan thank the Resistance for freeing them. Dan, along with Mira and Baron, followed Runo as well as Gus, Lync and Spectra. into the dimensional gate to Earth. Once they arrive Spectra takes Runo as his hostage and offering Dan an ultimatum: join the Vexos or risk Runo's safety. The Brawlers split up to pursue their foes, Spectra revealing that he is actually against Prince Hydron's rule and wants to team up with Dan to take him down. In a show of good will, he released Runo. Meanwhile, Dan refused to believe Spectra's intentions, and Alice soon warped in using Masquerade's warp card. She took Spectra, Gus, and Dan back to the lab, where Dr. Michael sent Spectra and Gus back to New Vestroia. Unfortunately, the transporter needed to be repaired before another trip could be made. This left Spectra, Gus, Lync, Mira, and Baron trapped on Earth. Since then, he has been worrying for Ace, Shun and Marucho, who were being captured by the Vexos.

He is challenged by Spectra while on Earth and agrees to battle with him. However, Spectra defeats Dan and acquires Drago when he used a Forbidden Ability Card to boost Helios' strength. Drago was then corrupted into Vexos Dragonoid. Dan trains in hopes of winning back Drago, and temporarily partners with the Legendary Warrior of Vestroia, Apollonir, and they successfully defeat Spectra, restore Drago back to normal, and win Drago back. Mira however betrays them saying she wants to be with her brother which is Spectra. When they get back to New Vestroia, Dan and Baron face Mylene Farrow and Shadow Prove in Beta City and destroyed the Dimension Controller there. When Dan tells Ace that Mira left them, the later grabs Dan by the shirt telling him that Mira would never betray them. but had to believe it was correct when he heard Baron's side of the story, which was the same as Dan's. The group later arrives at Gamma City where they learn it connects to the Vexos Motherpalace.

He destroys the final Dimension Controller by defeating Gus and Mira alongside Ace in Gamma City with the reward of Mira joining the team again, but when they try to get to Hydron's Palace, he activates another Dimension Controller, sending him, Baron, and Ace back down to the ground, where he is then challenged by Spectra. Spectra showed off his new Bakugan Cyborg Helios and gave Drago a hard time. Eventually, Spectra decided to use Maxus Helios, but Dan used Maxus Dragonoid to even the playing field although the brawl ended in a tie.

6 months later, the brawlers get a visit from the Legendary Soldiers who lost their attribute energies to King Zenoheld and gave them to the Resistance Bakugan with this Drago evolves into Cross Dragonoid. He is later shown telling Mira about the dream he had last night.

When he hears about the return of the Vexos by Ace, Baron, and Klaus, he rushes to Vestal to stop them alongside Mira and Marucho. Later the 3 of them brawl Spectra with his new evolved Helios MK2 even though it is a long battle with Mira and Marucho getting eliminated, he still beats Spectra.

After hearing about Shadow's attack on Alice, he and the resistance members rush back to earth hoping to keep Runo and Julie safe. Runo later tells Dan that she cant believe he thinks that she isn't a good Brawler which leader to her battling Mylene and Lync alongside Mira.

When Marucho and Preyas sneak out to find Elfin, he is with Shun, Ace and Baron sleeping through a romantic movie that Runo, Mira and Julie are watching. A few days later he plays cards with Ace completing how he only knows ability cards while Maron Leltoy pays the team a visit. Later Dan and the brawlers check out Bakugan Interspace which got completed. Ace battles Julie and Billy and wins in the first battle of Interspace.

When Spectra comes to Earth to get the Perfect Core, Dan defeats Spectra in a brawl, in which Dan agreed to give up the Perfect Core if he lost, while Spectra would take the Resistance to the Mother Palace if he lost. Dan wins, and Spectra agree to his terms. At the Mother Palace, Dan and Mira fight Zenoheld and Hydron with Spectra helping his rival due to Gus's loss to Zenoheld. Hydron defeated Mira when the battle just began. Although Spectra had Battle Gear within their arsenal and Prince Hydron's Dryoid had been defeated by the Twin Destructor, Dan and Spectra still lost to King Zenoheld due to Professor Clay's activation of the final level of the trap field they were standing upon and Drago lost his attribute energy and the BT system is full. So, Cross Dragonoid flies into the sky with the BT system and destroys it, absorbing all of the six attribute energies and becoming Helix Dragonoid.

Later he and the Resistance meet new unknown Bakugan which Baron and Saint Nemus brawl against but they lose to them.

With the Vexos seemingly out of the way, Spectra challenges Dan to one last battle to see who is number one. It is a close battle, but Drago won by bending Helios's battle gear and defeating him. Helios MK2 then admitted his defeat to Drago; he was the ultimate Bakugan, and Spectra decide to give up his mask and work with the resistance as his real self, Keith. Together, Dan and Keith create a Bakugan Battle Gear for Drago called JetKor. Him and the brawlers learn about the Alternative thanks to Lync leaving behind evidence he stole from Zenoheld.

When the Alternative is operational, Dan and the resistance brawlers battle and destroy it. Dan used only Helix Dragonoid in this battle. Keith, Gus, Mira, Ace and Baron return to Vestal, while Dan, Shun and Marucho head back to Earth. In the Japanese Ending of Episode 52, he is seen eating curry at Runo's family restaurant as Drago, Julie and Runo watch. Three weeks later, Bakugan Interspace is completely repaired. During this time, a Darkus brawler from Gundalia, Ren Krawler appears, asking Dan, Marucho, and Shun if they are the Bakugan Battle Brawlers. This makes Dan confused, ending the season.

Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders

28345287

After moving to Bayview, Dan befriends Jake Vallory, the Battle Brawlers' new Subterra brawler who was also a rugby player. Dan brings Jake to Bakugan Interspace where he gets Coredem from Marucho. They later watch Shun battling Shuji and he brawls against Ren, but the battle gets cut off when the power levels become too high for Bakugan Interspace. Later Ren tells the team that he is a Gundalian from the planet Gundalia that is being invaded by Neathia starting the Neathian-Gundalian War. He and Marucho battle two "Neathians" (actually Gundalians), Sid Arkale and Lena Isis. Marucho lost, but Dan and Drago beat both of them.

In their first encounter, Fabia Sheen throws Dan by accident as he rushes to get to a meeting on time. Later as Dan tells the group about her Fabia gets in. To see if he was the one who picked up her Phantom Data, she brawls Dan, and loses to him. Blindly believing Ren's story about the Neathians invading Gundalia, Dan tells her to leave and to stop using Bakugan for war. Angered by his ignorance, Fabia throws Dan and leaves. After that, Dan notices Shun was missing.

Later he is helping coach Jake who is having confidence problems. This helps him beat Mason Brown.

The brawlers later notice the brawlers are gone which Ren suspects is the work of Neathians and get challenged by Sid and Zenet. Dan battles Sid and Zenet Surrow in a tag battle with Ren. Unknown to him, Ren lost on purpose, forcing Dan into a two-on-one brawl. Dan ultimately loses the fight though Sid lets him keep Drago believing the battle to be unfair. He and Jake are wondering why Marucho and Ren keep working with technology with Drago mentioning how they love brawling just as much. When Dan is challenged by Gundalian agent Jesse Glenn, Fabia returns to Bakugan Interspace and fights Jesse, but loses. Dan notices Fabia about to grieve for her loss. Feeling sympathy for her, Dan challenges Jesse to a fight, but Ren tries to dissuade him. Shun and Fabia then expose Ren as a Gundalian spy, realizing that the Gundalians are the invaders, not the Neathians. Ren escapes, followed by Marucho, who believes that Ren is innocent. Dan and the Brawlers are told by Fabia about what really happened in the war between Neathia and Gundalia. Ren is found by Marucho and challenges him to a fight. However, Marucho defeats him and chooses to remain with the Brawlers much to Dan's joy. Later the brawlers get the real versions of Neathian Bakugan, swapping with the digital ones.

Dan and the Brawlers were challenged by Gundalian agents Mason Brown, Sid Arkale, and their new brainwashed brawlers Taylor and Casey. Dan and Shun had to battle Mason and Taylor while Marucho and Jake challenged Sid and Casey. They won with their new, real versions of their digital Bakugan, Hawktor, Coredem and Akwimos, but they were all tricked and sent out of Bakugan Interspace when Ren hacked into the system and forced the brawlers out, causing Bakugan Interspace to be under Ren's control.

He announces something is wrong in Interspace to prevent inhabitants being brainwashed by the Twelve Orders. Jake and Dan volunteered to go into Bakugan Interspace to do inspection on the Gundalians and Dan challenged Ren for a battle, instead Dan and Jake faced off against Pam twins and won. They then tell the twins that once Interspace is safe, they can battle. Later on, he is shown talking about how to get the security system working again and watches Fabia and Marucho leave to solve the problem. After Neo Ziperator is taken by Jesse after him and Ren beat Linus and Shun, Dan promises Linus Claude that he will rescue him. When they break into Interspace, they are led into an arena by Sid Arkale and challenged to a battle. Dan is easily doing well but then Sid brings out Neo. However, Neo gives Drago The Element, knowing he will protect it better. This caused Drago to evolve into Lumino Dragonoid, giving him great powers to win the battle. Drago stated that he could feel in tap with the universe during the battle. He and Drago later battled and defeated Zenet after she tried to get the Element to please Ren.

After hearing how things are getting worse on Neathia, Dan and the others decide to ally with Fabia and head to there to help fight. He and the other Brawlers follow Fabia back to Neathia. The brawlers meet Fabia's sister, Queen Serena, and ally with the Neathian forces. Fabia then shows the Brawlers the Sacred Orb, the item that the Barodius and Twelve Orders are after so that the former can conquer all of reality. Soon after, they receive a report that the Gundalians are attacking. He and Shun take out Gundalian Bakugan. Dan ends up battling Emperor Barodius and Dharak, but just as Drago and Dharak were about to attack each other, the Sacred Orb sends all of the Gundalians back to Gundalia. After the battle, he and the other Brawlers are awarded the position of Castle Knights and was loaned the Pyrus Castle Knight armor. Later he and the brawlers discuss a plan to trick the Gundalian soldiers. He, along with Shun and Fabia, go though the jungle while Jake and Marucho act as the decoys for distraction.

Dan, Shun and Fabia are traveling through the jungle while coming across a few obstacles while Marucho and Jake distract Airzel and Mason. A while later, Stoica and Jesse appear to stop the Brawlers. Before they battle, Shun escapes while Fabia and Dan battle. Fabia fights most of the battle while Dan is silent. Stoica later figures out that before the battle, Dan and Shun temporarily swapped Bakugan, so he has Hawktor while Shun has Drago. Dan proves himself a good Ventus brawler, whose strategy revolves around beating down his opponent with swift, heavy attacks via his Ability Cards, and he and Fabia emerge victorious from the battle forcing Stoica and Jesse to retreat.

Heading towards the second shield generator, he arrives just in time to help out Shun, who was getting defeated by Kazarina (but beats Lena). Dan and Shun then switched their Bakugan to their respective owners, and Dan took Shun's place in the battle, giving Shun enough time to activate the shield while Dan defeated Kazarina. They and the Neathians celebrate their victory as the Gundalians retreat. While doing construction, he tries to tell Jake that they need to rebuild so they can be ready. Later Dan noticed the scared orb act up while Fabia and Marucho battled Nurzak and Ren. After that battle he is shown watching Fabia tell her sister about how Nurzak just left the battle when the orb got pissed off. The Brawlers decide to use the orb to turn the other Twelve Orders against Barodius thanks to Shun's advice. Dan decides to use that plan to divide and conquer. Later, Dan went and helped Shun in his battle against Zenet and Gill, and won thanks to them using their battle gear. When Shun asked why he was late he replied traffic was a killer. Later Nurzak tells Neathians that he wants to meet for a treaty, however he is beaten by Barodius before the brawlers could speak with him.

While trying to fight off against a group of hypnotized people, Dan and Fabia fight Koji with a Subterra Impalaton. Seeing that the two were about to die, Captain Elright gave Dan and Drago his own Assault vehicle, Raytheus, which the latter uses to defeat Koji. After fighting enemies with Raytheus, Dan is confronted by Ren. He asks Ren why he fights for Barodius' cause and once he hears his reason, he said that he was better friends with the brawlers. While he was fighting Ren, Sid joins the battle to fight Dan, but the two still lose due to Dan using his mobile assault. After the battle Sid dies and Dan tries to tell Ren not to go back with Dharak, but Ren leaves anyway. The next day he, Shun and Jake beat several Gundalian Bakugan that Gill sends at them.

He and Drago battled Dharak Colossus but lost making Ren betray Barodius. During the battle Dan tried to step in, but Ren told them to let them finish it themselves. Linehalt unleashes his forbidden power harming everyone. In episode 25, he obtained Dragonoid Colossus, but was not aware of it. After the battle everyone welcomed Ren back to the team except Fabia who did not trust him. He tried to convince Fabia to let Ren stay telling her she was different. After Ren lost to Fabia he watched Ren become a Castle knight due to having earned her trust. Dan felt proud of him. Later during a patrol, Dan and Jake met Robin, a hypnotized kid from Bakugan Interspace, but they did not know he was hypnotized. When Robin ran off, he tried to stop Jake from running after him but got mad and gave up. However he saw Jake lose to Kazarina and get kidnapped by her to be brainwashed.

Dan witnessed Jake's return from Gundalia, but is suspicious of his nature since his return due to talking about technology which he usually never does. Later that evening, He sets a trap for Jake thus confirming Jake was brainwashed and the two end up battling. Dan struggles against Jake and his new Ability Card given to him by Kazarina. Luckily, Shun arrives and helps him defeat Jake. Jake however retreats telling Shun and Dan he is not their friend. The next day the team tries to think of a plan to save Jake from Kazarina's control.

Dan is transported to the space in between dimensions to be tested by Dragonoid Colossus to see if he is worthy of wielding the Sacred Orb's power. With the help of Explosix and Jakalier, they manage to defeat him. As a reward for winning, Dragonoid Colossus forces Drago to evolve into Blitz Dragonoid and takes him back to Neathia along with Nurzak and Mason who were trapped there.

In episode 30, he utilized Dragonoid Colossus' Battle Gear to break in to the Gundalian fortress beating Gundalian Bakugan along the way. Once inside, he got separated from Marucho and Shun and ended up in a strange room and is confronted by Barodius and Dharak, so they battle. Dan struggles a bit against him until Dragonoid Colossus gives him an Ability Card to defeat him. After the battle, Dan demands that Barodius return Jake, only to have him tackle Dan, showing that he is still hypnotized by the Gundalians.

From episodes 32 to 35, he was locked up by Jake and was knocked out by Kazarina, who was going to vaporize him and Drago. However, Jake snaps out of his hypnosis and saves Dan. He, Jake and Fabia then fight Kazarina only to lose to her due to using Barias Gear.

In episode 36, he battles Kazarina, Airzel, Stoica, and Gill alongside the Castle Knights. He wins against Gill, Stoica, and Airzel, but they must leave Fabia behind to finish the battle with Kazarina.

In episode 37, he tries to get to Barodius and Phantom Dharak, but is blocked by Strikeflier causing him and Shun to battle Airzel and Stoica.

In episode 38, he starts to battle Barodius, Stoica, Airzel, and solders alongside the Brawlers, Jesse, Lena, Zenet and the Castle knights. Fabia, Mason, and Nurzak arrive to lend a hand. After his team, the Gundalian Agents and the Castle Knights all get beaten he and Drago are about to battle Phantom Dharak when he is warped to a space in between dimensions.

In episode 39, he continues to battle against Barodius and Phantom Dharak. He wins and Blitz Dragonoid evolves into Titanium Dragonoid thus saving Neathia. Fabia congratulates the brawlers for all their help and they are sent home, leaving behind their Neathian Bakugan partners. Once back on Earth, they reunite with Julie and Dan's mother with Dan telling his mom it is great to be back. Later in Bakugan Interspace, he battles Koji who tells Dan that he has been looking forward to fighting him. Dan tells Koji that they did fight while he was brainwashed, causing Drago to tell Dan that he most likely wont remember. Dan wishes Koji luck and launches Drago to fight ending the season.

Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge

Arc 1

Dans-back

One year after defeating Barodius, Dan and Drago have returned to Bakugan Interspace and help Marucho expand it. Two rival teams, Team Anubias and Team Sellon have emerged and are trying to challenge the Brawlers' status as top-ranked battlers. Dan and Drago start off by beating two unknown brawlers. Drago however misses when he shoots his fire attack. Also, the two of them have been having visions of a masked man named Mag Mel and a Bakugan named Razenoid demanding that they give him their power. The next day, Dan was challenged by one of the members of Team Anubias, Ben. Dan manages to defeat him, but Drago loses control of his powers and nearly destroys the arena.

In Mechtogan Mayhem, he and Drago are off training at an abandoned arena in order to control their powers. However, when activating "Dragon Hard Striker," Drago goes out of control due to the Chaos Energy and "spawns" Zenthon. They comment on how strong Zenthon is and try battling him but are unsuccessful. Later, they are seen among the arena debris commenting that Drago's powers are not the only things that need to be controlled after the robot trashed Marucho and Jack's battle.

In Disconnect, he was trying to hide the problems with Drago from Shun and Marucho, but it is not working well. Later, he is seen being forced by Dylan to participate in a "meet and greet" even though he rejects it while trying to act like he has a big ego problem. Later, he battles Anubias and he won the first round but lost the second and the third round due to him trying to keep Drago's powers under control and making him run away. After the battle, Anubias tells Dan even though they are rivals; he still had respect for Dan. However, he was disappointed that Dan did not think the same way and felt insulted that Dan brawled like an amateur. He advises Dan that "If your heart's not in it, then maybe you should just quit." He was last seen watching a fan that supported him then rejected him for losing.

In Fall From Grace, he alongside Marucho and Shun battled Zenthon briefly before he disappears. Shun and Dan later argue with Dan telling Shun to let him be. Later, he and Shun battled Sellon and Chris and won but only due to Sellon throwing the match.

In Tri-Twister Take Down, the Brawlers discuss Dan and Drago taking a break from brawling in order to make sure the people inside Interspace are safe. Dan gets angry and leaves in order to continue training with Drago. Having trouble focusing on training due to the argument, they begin to agree that they need to take a break. Later, they watch Shun and Marucho's battle and after seeing what the Tri-Twisters are doing - he wants to help but feels conflicted and does not help them out.

In Agony of Defeat, he still refuses to listen to his friends when they tell him to take a break from battling. he was then training with Drago with Anubias telling him and said he beater not hold back in their battle. Even though he is still plagued by nightmares about Mag Mel and Razenoid, Dan doesn't mind battling Anubias with the winner being crowned the official number one brawler of Bakugan Interspace. During the fight, a vision of Mag Mel and Razenoid appears, and Dan and Drago think they are fighting them instead of Anubias, causing them to lay waste to the field and endanger the crowd with Shun and Marucho briefly fighting him to make him return to normal. To make matters worse, Zenthon reappears. Once Zenthon leaves, Dan and Drago's vision are returned to normal. The battle is declared over and Dan is disqualified for illegally using Zenthon and Anubias is crowned number one of Bakugan Interspace. Unable to face his fans that have turned against him, let alone his friends, Dan packs up his things and leaves.

In BakuNano Explosion, he went back to New Vestroia, to learn to control Drago's powers in safety.

In Return to New Vestroia, he and Drago were wondering why so many Bakugan had never seen a human before even though the Brawlers saved Vestroia many times. Later, they meet up with Preyas and Amazon at one of Drago's training grounds. At first, he and Drago are reluctant to battle due to their problems but Dan theorizes that maybe in the real world, Drago can control his powers better. So, they battle Amazon but lose control during the battle and are defeated. They later faint from exhaustion while Preyas and Amazon leave. Dan and Drago are seen later talking about what happened and Dan admits that he has no idea what to do.

In Chaos Control, he and Drago split up after the last one said he has to be alone for a while. But Anubias in his Gundalian form (unknown who he is to Dan and Drago), sent by Mag Mel to get Dan and Drago, arrived in New Vestroia and started attacking Drago and Preyas with a Chaos Bakugan gifted to him by Mag Mel, Darkus Iron Dragonoid. Drago took a hit and Preyas stepped in protect him. Anubias called his own Mechtogan, Venexus (which is also gifted by Mag Mel). Preyas lost and Drago went into rage and lost control again and started destroying the area and summoned Zenthon until Dan and Amazon came and brought Drago came back to control. They battled Zenthon who started to obey Drago after he got shot by Drago's Revolutional ability. Dan and Drago battled Anubias and Iron Dragonoid while Zenthon battled and defeated Venexus. Dan and Drago won and Anubias flew back.

In A Royale Pain, Dan and Drago are briefly seen at the end of the episode climbing a mountain in New Vestroia. They are seen to be more positive and Dan claims that they will control their powers and get back on top again.

In Back In Sync, Dan and Drago are shown to be taming/training against Zenthon. After, they try to fly up a cliff with a strong wind against them. They fail once, being out of sync, but after a few words of wisdom from Wavern, they succeed and begin to hunt the entity haunting them.

In Mind Search, Wavern leads him and Drago to a cave which will solve their nightmares. They enter the cave only to find a rainbow light. They look in the light and they see Mag Mel and Razenoid. After, they get flashed out of the cave and gain a symbol on their bodies. Then, Dan realizes that the light was Code Eve.

In Re-connection, Wavern lets Dan and Drago look through their memories to find the source of all their troubles. They find the source after evolving at the end of Gundalian Invaders. The feeling they had was the same feeling when they lost control. After, they decide to train as Wavern leaves the group.

In Triple Threat, he and Drago are still training on New Vestroia. He receives violent visions of Bakugan Interspace and Bayview being attacked by Razenoid and they face Sellon (in her Neathian form) and this time, since Dan and Drago are back in sync, they summon Zenthon and are able to control him. Then they become in sync with Zenthon and summon Zenthon Titan and win the battle beating her Flash Ingrams.

In Interspace Under Siege, he and Drago returns to Bakugan Interspace alongside Spectra Phantom and Infinity Helios after sensing danger within the Interspace.

In A Hero Returns, he attempts to take on all of the Chaos Bakugan himself to prove that he and Drago have control of his powers and of Zenthon to the brawlers. However, he sees another vision of Mag Mel and loses control yet again causing him to lose to Sellon and Anubias. Later, he sees a vision of Gundalia being attacked by the Chaos Bakugan and warns the others. Paige then receives a distress signal confirming that Gundalia is being attacked, and the brawlers decide to go help out Gundalia.

In Gundalia Under Fire, Drago opens a portal and the battle brawlers head to Paige's home, Gundalia. When they arrive, they meet up with Ren (who changed into his Human Form) and takes them to a secret base. Dan has a vision of Mag Mel and his plan to attack the capital of Gundalia. Marucho forms a strategy but Mag Mel launches a sneak attack of his own. Dan gets the BakuNano Sonicanon from Rafe and uses it against Razenoid. Mag Mel reveals that he uses the connection they share to gain the upper hand on the brawlers as Dan gets closer to him, their psychic connection grows stronger. The battle gets more intense forcing Dan to call Zenthon but Mag Mel calls his own Mechtogan with each side using their strongest attack with Drago losing the battle as Razenoid was too powerful which forced the Brawlers to retreat.

In Battle Lines, Dan is still arrogant since his return. He constantly insisted on battling even though he was dissuaded by Marucho, Rafe, Trister, and Shun. He gets angered to the point of grabbing Marucho by the collar and flipping Shun. He then gets attacked by Anubias and Sellon along with Shun. They manage to win with the help of Marucho's Cannongear but is yelled at for not listening to stay at the base. He then falls into the chasm along with the rest of the brawlers.

In Unlocking the Gate, he went off after Mag Mel, but Rafe convinces him to trust his friends, mentioning that they were just trying to help him. He apologized about his attitude beforehand. After some struggling, he beats Mag Mel, Sellon and Anubias along with the other brawlers and is welcomed back as the Leader of the Battle Brawlers.

In True Colours, he and the brawlers return to the Bakugan Interspace. There, they are attacked by the Chaos Bakugan that were sent by Anubias and Sellon. He and the brawlers also find out that Anubias and Sellon are working for Mag Mel. Dan then battles Anubias and Sellon alongside Rafe, Paige, Marucho and Shun. After the fight, they find out that they are trapped inside Interspace due to Shun destroying the last transport system.

In Dangerous Beauty, he and the brawlers discuss a plan of getting rid of the Chaos Bakugan, when all of a sudden Chris and Soon bring Sellon. They beg the brawlers to help Sellon, but Shun refuses to still seeing her as evil. Afterwards, he, Paige, and Rafe fight against Chaos Bakugan as well as Braxion, Rockfist, and Miserak with great difficulty. They receive a transmission from Marucho, who reminds them to attack the horns of the Chaos Bakugan, and they succeed in destroying them.

In Unfinished Business, he is seen battling against the Chaos Bakugan alongside Shun. Later, he receives a message from Anubias, telling him that he has kidnapped Noah and he want to fight him. When he finds him, they begin to battle each other but are evenly matched. Later, when Mag Mel absorbs Anubias, he becomes furious and swears revenge against him. He even screams Mag Mel's name into the clouds.

In Behind the Mask, he is seen talking to the brawlers about how Mag Mel wants to invade Earth. He then tells the brawlers that the only way to defeat him is to use their link. They then say that it is a bad idea but he says that it is their only hope and that all of his friends have got his back. All of them then agree with him and he starts to focus to link up with Mag Mel. He then appears in the dark reversed dimension of Bakugan Interspace and battles against Mag Mel, Razenoid, Dreadeon and Razen Titan alongside Titanium Dragonoid, Zenthon and Zenthon Titan. During the battle Dan cuts off a portion of Mag Mel's mask, revealing him to be Barodius, the former emperor of Gundalia. The battle ended in a draw as their powers were too much for the world to handle. Dan later reveals how he lost his link with Mag Mel and his identity to the brawlers which shock Paige and Shun.

In Interspace Armageddon, he is seen battling Chaos Bakugan and Dreadeon clones. He, along with the other Brawlers (except Spectra and Infinity Helios), escape Bakugan Interspace as Marucho deletes Bakugan Interspace.

In Dark Moon, he battled the Razen Titan clones with the rest of the Brawlers and they succeeded in defeating the Razen Titans. Dan and Drago then went into the Dark Moon with Mag Mel and Evolved Razenoid right behind them.

In The Final Takedown, he and Drago defeated Mag Mel and Evolved Razenoid, seemingly once and for all and Drago evolved into Fusion Dragonoid.

Arc 2

1331

Dan reunites with Runo after years of serparation.

He battled and unknown Brawler and Shun in Evil Arrival and won. He and Gunz Lazar, his new rival had a brief fight before it got interrupted. He also battled against the Rogue Mechtogan, who fused into Mechtavius Destroyer, and won using the newly spawned Dragonoid Destroyer.

In Wiseman Cometh, Dan fought Wiseman along with Shun and Marucho. Drago summons Dragonoid Destroyer which allowed Reptak and Jaakor to be launched from it and increase their attack power. Drago then defeats them with his power combined with Dragonoid Destroyer.

In Mysterious Bond, Dan tried to help Reptak find his missing partner but ran into Wiseman. He used Battle Suit, Doomtronic, and combined Drago and Reptak to form Aeroblitz to defeat Gliderak.

In Combination Impossible, Dan is with Shun and Marucho talking about how Wiseman is targeting the members of the battle brawlers. He wanted to talk with Marucho in forming a strategy along with Shun but Marucho declined as he needed to talk with Radizen alone.

In Enemy Allies, Dan is seen catching Mira who collapses due to exhaustion from working on the new Battle Suits. He and the other brawlers would then take on Wiseman and his Bakugan. The brawlers were winning at first until they summoned their Mechtogan. The Mechtogan fused together, before Dan could call Dragonoid Destroyer the Mechtavius Destroyer attacks him, but Drago blocks most of the blow but it knocked Dan out. Dan would wake up after hearing Runo's voice that would then transfers Drago's new battle suit. Together the brawlers defeat Mechtavius Destroyer forcing Wiseman to retreat.

In Battle for Bakugan Land, Dan shows Runo around the amusement park. Later, Wiseman shows up to battle him. After a tough time with Spatterix and Stronk, thanks to them fusing into Scorptak, the battle turns in Dan's favor when Runo sends him the battle suits. This allows him to defeat Wiseman.

In Gunz Blazing, Dan suspects that Gunz may be Wiseman after he shows up one stormy day. Then, the Brawlers receive a report that Wiseman is terrorizing the city. When they arrive, they find that Wiseman is a hologram! The real Wiseman steals the battle suits and Dan chases after him. Then, Wiseman confronts him, taking off his mask, revealing Gunz! They brawl, and Dan wins thanks to Dragonoid Destroyer. Dan returns to headquarters and discusses the possibility that Gunz could be brainwashed.

In Battle Suit Bash, Dan, Marucho, and Shun head to the mountains for some training. Wiseman appears and battles the brawlers with their own battle suits! The fighting gets pretty intense, and Dan even fights Wiseman hand-to-hand! After that, Wiseman teleports away, leaving the brawlers.

In Countdown to Doomsday, Dan and the brawlers are looking at all the data they have on the Nonets, the evil Mechtogan, and Wiseman himself. They don't have enough information on any of these things, so they look to anyone who could help. Skytruss and Orbeum locate Wiseman and alert the brawlers about him. When they meet, a fight ensues with both sides giving everything they've got! However, the brawlers get defeated, and Coredegon issues them a threat: the brawlers must get rid of their Bakugan, if they do it when the Mechtogan return, only they will be destroyed. If they don't the human race will be annihilated!

In The Eve of Extermination, Dan learns that Dragonoid Destroyer has 30% of power reserved. Dan asks Mira why, but she says she doesn't know. Dan tells the brawlers that they can't defeat the Nonets without him, but Marucho and Shun get mad at him. Runo breaks it up though. Later, she comforts Dan, while Mira and Kato do the same to Shun and Marucho. This brings the brawlers back together. Then they head to a stadium to meet Wiseman. Dan tells Wiseman that they'll brawl for the Bakugan's freedom, which starts the battle. The battle goes smoothly until Wiseman summons the evil Mechtogan. After Mechtavius Destroyer forms, Shun and Marucho try to defend from a powerful attack when Dragonoid Destroyer uses 20% of its energy to summon Mechtogan for Radizen and Jaakor: Flytris and Thorak. Through the two Mechtogan forming into Duomechtra, the brawlers are victorious. When they return to the HQ, Dan wonders what he'll use the remaining 10% for.

In Jump to Victory, Dan gets annoyed by Runo showing him Aerogan. He tells her that Aerogan is her problem. Later, he apologizes to her as Wiseman comes up to challenge him. Dan, Drago, and Reptak have trouble with the Nonets combination's cyclone ability. He and Drago then call Dragonoid Destroyer just when Runo throw Aerogan as well. Dragonoid Destroyer sends Aerogan up into the air to strike the Nonets above the vortex. They use this tactic again and again until they defeat Wiseman.

In Enemy Infiltration, Dan, Marucho, and Shun get the signal from Skytruss and Orbeum to Wiseman's hideout. They battle Exostriker, Mandivor, and Slycerak through the jungle. They later fall into the ocean from an attack.

In Gunz Lives, Reptak tells Dan a story about Gunz. Gunz got very angry that he lost to Dan when he was a rookie. Then, Gunz and Reptak made a vow that they will win if they just train hard. After the story, Mira said that she made replicas of the battle suits Wiseman stole. They headed back to Wiseman's hideout and started to fight. Then, Gunz showed up. Dan and the brawlers got angry at him because they thought he was Wiseman. Then, the real Wiseman teleports Gunz away. The brawlers get very mad that he was pretending to be Gunz. After a long fight, Wiseman reveals his true identity: Coredegon. He then shot a blast that turned all of the brawler's Bakugan to ball form.

In Evil Evolution, Dan and the brawlers escape Coredegon due to the Nonets' interference. Later, they get back into the fight when Coredegon turns into Mechtavius Destroyer. The battle is fierce, but the brawlers lose. Coredegon then creates a portal to the Doom Dimension, and pulls the brawlers into it.

In Evil vs. Evil, Dan and the other brawlers are in the Doom Dimension. Dan suggests that Drago create a portal to get them out of there but it doesn't work. Later, they are confronted by Gunz and Betadron.

In Doom Dimension Throwdown, Dan and Drago battle Betadron and Gunz. The battle is very fierce, as Betadron wants to destroy Drago because the original Dragonoid sent the Nonets to the Doom Dimension, while Gunz wants revenge on Dan for turning Reptak against him. The battle ends with Gunz turning back to his old self, and Betadron joining the brawlers to fight a common enemy: Mechtavius Destroyer. Then Worton appears, telling them about the destruction of Bakugan City.

In Blast From the Past, he along with the other brawlers went though the Current of Time and saw Bakugan City and New Vestroia destroyed. They also saw that Mechtavius Destroyer intends to destroy Neathia, Gundalia, and Vestal. After that, he witnessed Betadron and Worton sacrifice themselves to keep the portal open. Dan activated Dragon Eternal Force to ensure they all made it through. Then they confronted Mechtavius Destroyer.

In Beginning of the End, he and the other brawlers battled against Mechtavius Destroyer, but were overpowered. Later, Dan learned from Mira that Dragonoid Destroyer was only functioning at 90% efficiency. After that, he watched as Gunz was seemingly hit by Mechtavius Destroyer, but was instead protected by Chromopod.

In End of the Line, all Bakugan around the world (according to Mira) spawned Mechtogan, fueling Dragonoid Destroyer and increasing his power level to the infinite levels. He then talked to Genesis Dragonoid (Drago's ancestor) who told them about Mechtavius Destroyer's past, and congratulated Dan and Drago for winning. Later in Bakugan City, Dan and Drago have a rematch with Gunz and Reptak, with Dan and Drago eventually winning. After that, Marucho, Shun, Gunz, Runo, Julie, and Mira, host Dan and Drago a victory party, but they decide not to show up, and they take Kato's boat. Then the series ends with Dan saying they'll let someone else take over for them, and that they'll go where adventure takes them.

Etymology

  • In his Japanese name, 空操弾馬 (Kūsō Danma), his last name, Kūsō, consists of the kanji for "sky" (空) and "honor" (操). The first kanji in his given name, 弾 (dan), has a number of meanings: bullet, ball, pellet, and shell. The next one, 馬 (ma), is much simpler: it just means "horse."
    • There is a misunderstanding with some English fans that "Kūsō" is pronounced the same way as the Japanese swear "kuso" (which is an equivalent of "damn"). However, in Japanese, the two words are quite distinct, as the hiragana for Kūsō would be spelled くうそう (kūsō, the vowels are drawn out), while the swear word is くそっ (kuso~tsu, all vowels are short from "Kūsō").

Trivia

  • Dan's rank in Season 1 of Bakugan has changed significantly.
  • Dan, Runo Misaki and Julie Makimoto are the second youngest out of the original Battle Brawlers in the English dub.
  • In the Japanese dub, he is 11 in Battle Brawlers, 13 in New Vestroia, 14 in Gundalian Invaders, and 15 and 16 in Arc 1 and 2 of Mechtanium Surge respectively.
  • In the English dub, Dan is the first and only one to use a Double Ability in Gundalian Invaders.
  • Dan is the second person to use a Triple Ability after Spectra.
  • Dan's goggles are similar to those worn by the main protagonists of Digimon seasons 1-4 and 6-9.
  • With a total of seven Bakugan Traps, Dan has the most Bakugan Traps.
  • Almost all of Dan's rivals refer to him by his full name.
  • In the Japanese preview of Taste of defeat, Dan mistakenly assumed Gus was Mira's older brother.
  • In the Dub, Dan narrates the preview for The Prodigal Bakugan despite not appearing in the episode or being mentioned.
  • Dan and Spectra's battle at the end of arc 1 of New Vestroia is the only battle in the whole series that lasted for 3 episodes.
  • With the exception of Spectra, Sid and Gunz, all of his rivals have fought with the Darkus attribute.
  • In the Japanese version, Dan's theme would play even in battles that he was not a part of. Examples being Marucho's battle against Hydron and Shadow Prove in Elfin On the Run and Shun and Baron's battle against Volt Luster in Samurai Showdown.
  • Dan is the last person that Masquerade interacts with physically before leaving by shaking his hand.

Battles

Dan starts off as a skilled brawler in Season 1 and significantly improves in a rather short period of time, even beating Shun and Masquerade (two top Brawlers) and by the end of the season and in Seasons 2-3, he is often recognized as the strongest of all brawlers, with a few defeats he suffers usually being the result of some sort of external factor. His record takes a dip in Season 4, however, as a result of Dan and Drago not being able to control their powers anymore. Overall, Dan lost three brawls in Battle Brawlers, three in New Vestroia, three in Gundalian Invaders, and eight in Mechtanium Surge.
